The Optic Core provides research services primarily focused on optic imaging. Situated on the 2nd floor of IBS CNIR, it has established state-of-the-art optic imaging equipment. Among the equipment available are the STED confocal microscope capable of tissue imaging with super high resolution and the two-photon microscope for real-time imaging of live mouse or rat brain tissue and function. Particularly noteworthy is the system that allows simultaneous electrical recording and optic imaging, providing a crucial tool for studying functional brains. The Optic Core serves as a core facility for brain research at the cellular level, complementing whole-brain studies conducted at IBS CNIR. Furthermore, the Optic Core extends the opportunity to external researchers, beyond those affiliated with IBS CNIR, to conduct advanced brain function research using cutting-edge optical equipment.
