The IT Core provides computer network support and administrates computing and networking facilities, including high-performance cluster computers and backup systems. The CNIR houses high-performance computation facilities of cluster servers, graphic processing unit (GPU) servers, and storage equipment to support ongoing computational research needs. Currently, the CNIR houses 26 servers composed of one master node with two 3.4GHz hexa-core CPUs and 25 computation nodes with 464 cores (each with two 18-core 3.0GHz or two quad-core 3.4GHz CPUs), and two GPU servers with 60 cores. To meet the growing needs of data storage, the Center has 12 network-attached storage (NAS) units with a capacity exceeding 3.0 petabytes. The raw imaging data will soon have a more robust back-up plan, which is synchronized to the database of the main server through a hard-wired security system (KREONET).
